Ruskin, FL Plumbing & Electrical Services

A+ BBB · Licensed since 1994

Ruskin is a community in southern Hillsborough County along the eastern shore of Tampa Bay, founded in the early 1900s and historically known for its tomato farms and the Little Manatee River. Today Ruskin combines older agricultural-era homes, waterfront properties, mobile home and 55-plus communities, and a steady wave of new subdivisions stretching east from U.S. 41.

Titan Plumbing and Electric serves Ruskin homeowners with licensed plumbing and electrical work that fits the area's mix of older properties, waterfront homes, and newer construction.

Plumbing Concerns Common in Ruskin

Older Ruskin homes may still have cast iron drains and galvanized supply lines, and properties closer to the river or off the main utility corridors often run on wells and septic. Newer subdivisions typically use PEX, but their original water heaters and pressure regulators are now aging out.

Waterfront and bay-adjacent homes also deal with corrosion on outdoor fixtures and irrigation, and 55-plus communities often request accessibility-related fixture upgrades.

Electrical Work We Do in Ruskin

Ruskin's heavy summer storm activity and bay-influenced weather make whole-home surge protection a routine recommendation, and older homes may need panel replacements, service upgrades, and grounding correction. Newer homes most often need work for added loads like HVAC expansion, pool equipment, EV chargers, and generators.

We handle code-compliant panel work, dedicated circuits, and outdoor and waterfront wiring.

Why Ruskin Homeowners Choose Titan

Titan Plumbing and Electric is a Florida-licensed plumbing and electrical contractor serving Hillsborough County, including the U.S. 41 corridor through Ruskin. One company across both trades simplifies well, generator, and remodel work where plumbing and electrical frequently overlap.

We recently had our two water heaters replaced. Ariel did a great job making sure that they were installed and working. We have an older house and Ariel had to solve some connection issues to get everything installed and operational. Titan was professional and skilled and the hot water and water pressure are great now.

After this year's hurricanes, Titan is the only business I can rely on to show up when they say they will be there. Months after the storms blew through, we struggle to work with any company because the supply chain is so limited. I wish all companies were as honest as Titan. Their field technicians are not only highly skilled but very kind. Thank you Titan for your enduring commitment to integrity and great service!

I was running late getting home and the plumber waited for an hour on me. I appreciate him and his partner's patience. They fixed my issue fast and didn't complain. I haven't had a problem with my plumbing thus far. This is the company I would love to come fix my plumbing issues and I will refer them to friends in a heartbeat.

Very impressed. Was in a bind on a Saturday. Victor came out within 90 minutes of my call and was very knowledgeable about the Flologic leak detection system we had that showed a possible leak. Within 15 minutes he advised the issue was with the valve for that system that got stuck in the off position. He fixed it, tested the system and we were good to go. I'm very thankful for getting in touch with the right company. Victor was very professional, friendly, and if we have any further plumbing or electric issues we will call Titan.

Thank you to Travis, Brian, and Pete at Titan! We had a great experience with their plumbing and electrical work. They showed up on time, were easy to communicate with, and got everything done quickly and professionally. The plumbing issues were fixed without any hassle, and the electrical work was completed neatly and works perfectly. They explained everything along the way, cleaned up after themselves, and were respectful of our home. Highly recommend them for any plumbing or electrical needs.

Travis, employed by Titan Plumbing, is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. The son of the owner, he treats people with 110% satisfaction. Great guy. I tell all my neighbors and friends about the job he did.

FAQ

Ruskin Plumbing & Electrical FAQs

What Ruskin homeowners ask us most often.

What is a low pressure sewer system and why does Ruskin have them?
A low pressure system uses a grinder pump at each property instead of gravity flow, and Hillsborough County says the ones here are aging, increasingly failure prone, and unreliable during power outages. That last part matters in a community that loses power to storms. Ruskin and Wimauma are the county's named low pressure conversion areas, which makes this a genuinely local problem rather than a general south county one.
Is Ruskin actually getting new sewer, and what does it cost me?
Yes. Hillsborough County's Ruskin and Wimauma conversion project puts Area A first, covering western Ruskin along West Shell Point Road north of Ruskin Inlet, and replaces the old systems with a vacuum sewer backed by a generator. Construction runs from mid 2025 into early 2027 with connections anticipated in late 2028. The county states application and connection costs are free to residential property owners in the program.
Is Ruskin an old town or a new one?
Both at once, which is unusual. Ruskin was founded in 1908 by George and Addie Miller around a college that burned in 1918, and it still holds 202 housing units built in 1939 or earlier, roughly seven times what Gibsonton or Sun City Center have. At the same time its median year built is 2007 and nearly 70 percent of its housing went up after 2000. A century of construction methods, one ZIP code.
Why does my Ruskin water leave spots and shorten appliance life?
Hillsborough County blends Floridan aquifer groundwater with treated regional supply, and the mineral content it carries scales water heaters, clogs aerators and shortens the life of every valve in the house. Older agricultural parcels on the edges of Ruskin draw from private wells instead, which skips county treatment entirely and adds iron and sediment to the list. A water test tells you which problem you have. See water softener options.
My Ruskin home is a manufactured home. Does that change hurricane planning?
It changes it immediately. Hillsborough County states that all manufactured and mobile homes are always included in evacuation Zone A even when they sit inland. Ruskin has 1,206 mobile homes, about 10.5 percent of its housing stock. For plumbing and electrical that argues for raised water heaters, service pedestals in good condition, and shutoffs you can reach fast when an evacuation order comes.
Do I need a permit for electrical work on a Ruskin manufactured home?
Yes, and manufactured housing carries requirements on top of the standard ones. Service pedestals, feeders and bonding on these homes are a common source of failed inspections and insurance flags, especially where decades of piecemeal upgrades have stacked up. The permit runs through Hillsborough County Development Services because Ruskin is unincorporated. We pull it, do the pedestal work and coordinate the Tampa Electric reconnect.
Is the National Weather Service office really in Ruskin?
The National Weather Service Tampa Bay Area forecast office sits at 2525 14th Avenue Southeast in Ruskin, which means every surge forecast, warning and storm summary for this region is issued from inside the community. Residents here often get the news before the office two miles away does. It also means the surge guidance we use when deciding platform heights on a Ruskin job is written locally.
