Upgrade Your Water Heater And Save Big
Tampa hard water builds inches of sediment inside a typical residential water heater. Watch the Titan crew cut one open on a real Tampa job, count the scoops of sediment pulled out, take $100 off the new install for every cup (up to $500 off), and recommend the right filter system so it doesn't happen again.

Here in the Tampa Bay area, we have very hard water. That hard water accumulates in the bottom of your water heater. You can see this water heater here. We've got a lot of rust also coming out of this heater. What we're going to do is cut open this heater. When we cut open the heater, we're going to count the scoops of sediment that we pull out of this heater. We're going to give $100 off for every cup of sediment we pull out of the heater up to like $500 off of the new heater install. Then we're going to see if we can recommend a filter system to take care of the new heater and protect our house in the future. Let's get started. All right, we've cut this heater open. Now we're going to count the scoops in here. Let's get started on this. One, two, three, four, five, six. There's six in here, but that's just like a soup. So there's probably another two or three. But then when you look on this side over here, there's twice as much sediment over here. Then you look on the ground. So I'm going to say this is like 15 scoops of sediment. Hey, how you doing? I'm good. How are you? Good. I'm Joe. We cut your heater open. Yeah. And it's beautiful inside. If you like sediment, we got over five cups for you. So we're going to take $500 off. I figured that was funny. What's wrong with it? Now if you'd like, we could put in a filter system to keep this from happening again. So we can go over that with you, but we would recommend a filter, at least a sediment filter, and that would keep all the sand from piling up inside your heater. Okay, we've done a water heater challenge. We've taken $500 off the install of a new heater. We are recommending a filter system to take care of this sediment problem in the future. As you can see on this one, this is about probably what's on the ground and still left in the heater. We've got about 5 gallons of sediment that was in this heater. And that means on a 40-gallon heater, you only had about 35 gallons of hot water in here at any one time. And the bottom element was probably buried, so really the top element was the only one that was producing hot water. For more information on water heaters, go to titanplumbingandelectric.com.

We're here in St. Petersburg. We're doing our water heater challenge. The challenge is we're going to cut this heater open and we're going to look inside and look at the sediment. We're going to give $100 off for every cup of sediment we pull out of this heater up to a maximum amount of $500. Here in the Tampa Bay area, we have very hard water. It's mostly calcium. That calcium builds up in the bottom of your heater and will ruin the heater over time. So, we are going to open it up. look inside, count everything that's in there, the cups of sediment, and then we'll take you through the rest of the process. >> All right, we've cut the heater open. This is our water heater challenge. We're going to see how many scoops of sediment we have in this water heater. Um, you ready to look inside it? I am. All right, here we go. Wow. >> Wow. >> There is a lot pouring out right there, too. >> I'm saving some money today. >> We've already got When we opened up the heater, we drained out. We've already got two cups of sediment right there. So, I'm going to start with two. >> Sure. >> All right. So there's three, four, five. So if I was a vetting man, I'd say there was eight or nine cups of sediment for sure in this heater. >> I agree. >> So the things are is yearly flushes on the heater and like a sediment filter or even a softener system for the house. So, we're going to be putting in a new heater here and we're going to put in a a water uh uh filtration system for you. >> Sounds good. >> All right. Thank you, sir. >> Thank you. >> For more information, go to titanplumbinglectric.com.

Tips To Finding The Right Generator For You
How Titan sizes a whole-house standby generator: brand selection (Briggs & Stratton, Kohler, Champion), kW sizing for your home and AC count, fuel source (natural gas vs propane), placement setbacks from property lines, windows, doors, and electrical service, plus warranty length by brand.

Today I want to give you some tips on purchasing a whole-house generator. As you see behind me, we have a Briggs & Stratton whole-house generator. The first thing to think about is picking the type of generator and the brand. The type would be whole-house generator. The brand would be probably a Kohler, a Briggs & Stratton, or maybe a Champion generator. The next important tip on a generator is size. The sizing of the generator goes by the size of your house and how many fixtures you have, like air-conditioner units that need to be run off this whole-house generator. Generally speaking, if your house is around 2,000 square feet or smaller and you have one air-conditioner unit, you can probably do a 22 kW generator. If your house is larger, like 2,500, maybe two air-conditioner units, somewhere up to around 4,000 or 5,000 square feet, I would go with a unit like this one, which is a 26 kW. The next important tip you want to consider is the fuel source. Generators usually run on propane or natural gas. If your home has a meter on the side of the house, you have gas coming to the house from the municipality. That's a great way to run your generator. Off of that natural gas. If you don't have natural gas, you would need to get a propane generator. One of the next important features is where the generator is going to be placed. Generally speaking, you'll be 3 ft off any property line minimum. Also, we have to figure in windows and doors. You need to be 5 ft off any windows and doors on your house. Your generator also needs to be fairly close to your electrical service because we're going to be running a service line to the generator over to your electrical panel. Plants and landscaping can also factor into your generator placement. If you have plants in front of the generator, that would be a problem if it's not easy to access, particularly on the exhaust side of the generator. They probably would die if they're closer than 5 ft to the exhaust side. When you're considering generator brands, look at the warranties. Briggs & Stratton has a 7-year warranty, Kohler has a 5-year, and a Champion generator has a 10-year warranty. For more information on generators, go to titanplumbingandelectric.com.

Hey guys, it's Corbin with Titan Plumbing and Electric, and today we're out here at this property doing a hydro jetting. We're going to pressure-wash the inside of this line and get it real nice and clean and pop a clog. The customer called us out here because they were experiencing clogs. We stuck the camera down the line and we realized that the reason why they were having clogs is because over time the sewage running through the pipe will create a caking inside the pipe, and it can clog up the pipe and stop proper flow. What the jetter does is we have a high PSI. It goes inside the pipe, and as we push it through and pull it in and out, it's going to clean out and pressure-wash the inside of that line, removing the caking and allowing the pipe to flow freely. Before we do the hydro jetting, we're going to stick our camera in here, and as you can see the pipe is dirty. It's got a lot of caking on it and it's kind of clogged up. So we're going to go ahead and stick the jetter in there and clean it out. As you can see, the pipe is clear of all the caking. It's much cleaner now. The clog is gone and the customer is very happy.

Why You Need A Water Filtration System At Home
Tampa water is hard and chlorine-heavy. A whole-home filtration system protects fixtures, appliances, and your skin while improving taste.

Hey everybody, I'm Corbin with Titan Plumbing Electric and today we're taking a look at probably the best example of why a water softener or water filtration system in your home is so important. Not only for your health, but for the health of your plumbing system. They say that the water heater is the heart of your plumbing system. The buildup inside is almost like a clogged artery. Look at this heater with how much sediment is inside here. I mean, this is ridiculous. That's the heart of your plumbing system. Having the equivalent of a heart attack. This is pounds and pounds and pounds and pounds of sediment built up over decades. This is why flushing your heater is so important once a year. And to help prevent this, the water softener and the water filtration systems that we sell here at Titan will stop this much from building up in your heater, causing a heart attack in your plumbing system. If you're interested in a water softener or water filtration system, give Titan Plumbing Electric a call at 813-933810 or visit our website titanplumbinglectric.com. [Music]

How To Relocate A Toilet In A Bathroom Remodel

Let's look at this bathroom we're remodeling here. We are moving the toilet location. There's a lot of underground plumbing that's required when you relocate a toilet. As you can see here, we have the new rough in for the toilet location, but we have to vent this bathroom. The existing plumbing, the stack was in the block wall. So, what we've done is we've taken a saw and we've cut the block wall here and we've connected this vent into the old cast iron with this Fernco connection. So now we have the toilet relocated to a new spot and the bathroom is vented properly per code by connecting into the old stack that's existing as in the wall in this older home. Why Your Water Heater Needs Filtration

Hey everybody, my name's Corbin. I work with Titan Plumbing Electric and today we're cutting open a 30-year-old 40galon water heater and take a look at what's inside. All right, everybody. We're back here with this 30-year-old 40galon water heater. And I just wanted to go over the importance of filtration systems. If you take a look here at all this sediment, this is exactly why we recommend filtration systems in your home because it can stop all of this sediment from getting in your water heater and making it run less efficient. Now, this stuff is also in your drinking water, in the water you cook with, the water you bathe in, anywhere where you can use your cold or hot water. This stuff can make its way into that system coming from the city water or even a well pump water if you don't have any filtration systems in your home. The key is is that the longer you wait to get a filtration system, the more sediment is going to build up inside of your pipes and inside of your water heater. If you think that your heater needs to be flush, you can give Titan Plumbing Electric a call at 813-933810 or visit our website titanplectric.com.

Whole House Filters Extend The Life Of Your Heater
How a whole-house filter protects every fixture and appliance, with the water heater as the biggest beneficiary.
Read the full post →Read the transcript ▼
We're here at our water heater challenge. We cut open the heater. We gave $500 off for the cups of sediment we pulled out of the heater. We're also going to make some recommendations. This house is on a well, so and it's not uh doesn't have any kind of filter system. So, we're going to recommend a whole house filter system or at the bare minimum, this is a a sediment filter that would just protect the heater. We would install this in line before the water comes into the heater and that would protect the whole hot water side of the house and also all of the sediment from getting into this this heater. This filter would need to be replaced probably every 3 to to 5 months. We have other systems we're going to recommend that would be less maintenance. Um probably a softener system would be the best to get all of this sediment out and take care of the rust. For more information, go to Titan Plumbing and Electric.

hey everybody my name's Corbin I work for Titan plumet electric and today we're going to cut open a 50 galon electric water heater and take a look at what's [Music] inside all right everybody I've cut open the 50-gon electric water heater now let's take a look at what's inside oh my my God this is horrible look at the amount of sediment inside this heater this builds up over years and years in your tanked heater and it just sits there and swirls around as you use your hot water in your home one of the best ways to prevent sediment is to just get away with the tank heater all in general and do a tankless water heater that doesn't have a tank and cannot get sediment buil up inside of it to this magnitude all right so this is a tankless water heater as you can see it's much much smaller than a tank heater these heat the water on demand as you use hot water so you don't have to have a reserve of 40 to 50 gallons in a tanked heater where that sediment can build up the cold water comes in hot water comes out plain and simple this is an adequate replacement for a tanked water heater all right so if you're interested in a a tankless water heater opposed to a tank one that can build up sediment you should give Titan Plumbing electric a call at 813 93381 or visit our website Titan plumbing and electric.com

This might be the worst sediment buildup I've ever seen in a water heater. I'm almost at a loss of words. Hey everybody, my name's Corbin. I work with Titan Plumbing Electric and today we're cutting open a 40-galon tall electric water heater. Take a look at what's on the inside. [Music] All right, everybody. I have the water heater cut open. Let's take a look at how the sediment inside this heater blocks our drainage ports on the bottom of the water heaters. So, as you can see here, this is our drainage port for the water heaters. When we offer our water heater draining services, this is where we have to drain the water from. But if you take a look on the inside of this heater, you can see that the amount of sediment that's been built up in this heater actually blocks the area where we need to drain the water from. This makes it a lot harder to service your heater. And stopping this buildup is why we drain these heaters out. So this port stays clean and clear of sediment so we can effectively drain out your water heater. This will clog up that drainage port every single time. If you think that you have sediment in your heater and you would like us to come out and take a look, give Titan Plumbing Electric a call at 813933810 or visit our website titanplumbinglectric.com. Most people don't know what's involved in upgrading your electrical to be able to put one of these bad boys in. We're going to step over and talk to Max from Titan and he's going to show us what's involved to upgrade your service and enough power to be able to run this large electric tankless heater. All right. And what we got here is right now we had to upgrade our meter outside from a 200 amp meter to a 400 amp meter to refeed these two panels. Before that we had a 200 amp here. Now we're adding a second panel over there to have those 400 amps. So this is our splice box where we refeed our feeder wire into the first panel and then we refeed the second panel on the bottom here and come in the bottom into this panel as well. How Much Does It Cost To Install A Generator?
Realistic price ranges for whole-house generator installation in Tampa, by size and fuel type.
Read the full post →Read the transcript ▼
If you're considering a whole house generator, one of the most common questions is, "What is the cost of a whole house generator installed?" A lot of people see the cost of the generator online and they look and see that a 22 or 24 kW generator is around 56 $7,000 for the unit itself. Setbacks, ventilation, fuel access, and code: where a standby generator can. And cannot. Go.
Read the full post →Read the transcript ▼
If you're thinking about a whole house generator, we need to think about where the generator is going to be placed. When you look at your property, you want to be at least 3 ft off the property line, 2 ft off of a house, and 5 ft from any windows or doors. You don't want to have the generator too close to an opening because the exhaust fumes could go into the house. So, location of the generator is very important when you're thinking about getting a whole house generator. [Music]

I get asked all the time about fixing an issue that's common in many homes and that is in their master bath on the far end of the house they open up the faucet and it takes 10 minutes for the hot water to get there if that's what you're experiencing you might want to consider putting in a recirculating pump what this does is it just turns on every hour or so and it just moves the water in your hot water line so that hot water is closer to the source that you need to use it whenever you use it you turn it on and the hot water is there much faster maybe 30 seconds 10 seconds something like that for more information on recirculating pumps go to Titan Plumbing electric.com

hey I'm Corbin with Titan Plumbing and Electric and today we're here to talk about orange BG piping and why it must be replaced orange BG piping was first starting to be installed in the late 1800s it is a composite material combined of old wood chippings and tar so the longevity of these pipes is not great it was said to last 50 years but odds are you might only get 30 years out of it the problem with these pipes are is that they're soft they compress they also get holes in them this can lead the clogs down the line in the future of your home the best way to find out if you have orange Berg piping is to have a plumber come out and Camera your line so we can identify the type of piping if we do find Orange Berg piping it is highly recommended that we replace it if you're experiencing Plumbing issues give us a call at 813 93381 0 or visit our website Titan plumbing and electric.com

Hey everybody, my name's Corbin. I work with Titan Plumbing and Electric and today I'm cutting open an 11-year-old 40galon electric water heater. Let's take a look at what's on the [Music] inside. All right, everybody. I've cut open the water heater and come take a look at this. For once, we have a heater that seems to be that it was flushed during the lifetime of the heater. You can see we have very little sediment. The drainage port is wide open. Nothing blocking the way. Of course, with water heaters, you're going to have a little bit of sediment on the bottom, but this is way better than those mounds and mounds of sediment. This heater was running effectively, efficiently. It didn't lose any water quantity. All the elements are free of any bogging down of the sediment buildup. This is what it should look like on the inside of a water heater. This is what your water heater needs to look like when you give us a call at 813933810 or visit our website titanplumbinglectric.com. So, if you don't have a pan or an expansion tank, that would be an addition to that 8.98 price. For more information on water heaters, go to titanplumbinglectric.com. [Music]
