Very impressed. Was in a bind on a Saturday. Victor came out within 90 minutes of my call and was very knowledgeable about the Flologic leak detection system we had that showed a possible leak. Within 15 minutes he advised the issue was with the valve for that system that got stuck in the off position. He fixed it, tested the system and we were good to go. I'm very thankful for getting in touch with the right company. Victor was very professional, friendly, and if we have any further plumbing or electric issues we will call Titan.

What Clearwater homeowners ask us most often.

I moved from Tampa to Clearwater. What actually changed for me?
Nearly every counterparty. Your electricity switches from Tampa Electric to Duke Energy. Your gas comes from Clearwater Gas System, a city department serving about 32,000 customers over roughly 330 square miles. Water and sewer come from the city's own Public Utilities rather than Tampa's. Permits go to the Clearwater building department on State Road 580. The work is the same. Everyone you have to coordinate with is different.
Does a Clearwater address mean city water?
Not always. Clearwater runs its own Public Utilities department providing water, wastewater and reclaimed service, but Pinellas County Utilities also operates in and around the area, and the city's boundary is a patchwork after decades of annexation. Since backflow requirements, main ownership and responsibility from the meter in all follow the utility, the name on your bill is the thing to check first.
Does Clearwater run its own building department?
Yes, from State Road 580, and it is separate from Pinellas County. That distinguishes Clearwater from nearby Belleair Beach and Belleair Shore, which both contract permitting to the county. Plumbing and electrical are permitted as separate trades and the state licence has to be on file with the city. Establish the correct jurisdiction before work starts, because a misfiled permit means starting again.
How old is Clearwater's housing stock?
Older than most of Pinellas. The city has about 61,123 housing units with a median build year of 1978, and roughly 56 percent predate 1980. The 1970s alone account for 16,343 units, with 7,959 from the 1960s, 7,157 from the 1950s and 1,278 dating to 1939 or earlier. That is a broad age spread, and it means no single assumption covers the city.
Why do 1970s Clearwater drains back up so often?
Cast iron reaching the end of its useful life. It corrodes from the inside, scaling until the effective diameter narrows and then channelling along the bottom of the pipe. With 16,343 units built in that decade, a great many Clearwater houses are hitting that stage at once. Drain cleaning restores flow, but a camera inspection tells you whether you are maintaining a pipe or postponing its replacement.
My Clearwater house is from the 1950s. What is the supply pipe?
Most likely galvanised steel, unless somebody replaced it. Galvanised was standard for that era and fails internally, with rust narrowing the bore until pressure drops and the water runs discoloured after the house sits unused. Galvanised strangles rather than bursts, so there is no obvious failure date. Partial replacements rarely satisfy either, because the untouched sections keep restricting flow to whatever you just installed.
What did Helene do to Clearwater Beach?
Storm surge in late September 2024 reached levels Pinellas officials described as beyond anything the county had experienced, and reporting from the days afterward described beach roads buried under feet of sand. For homeowners the electrical rule is the same one that applied across the barrier islands. Service equipment that sat in salt water gets replaced rather than dried out, and so does a submerged tank water heater, because the burner assembly and controls are finished even when the tank is not.
