Feather Sound, FL Plumbing & Electrical Services

A+ BBB · Licensed since 1994

Feather Sound is an unincorporated community in Pinellas County, sitting between Clearwater and St. Petersburg with frontage along Tampa Bay and the Gateway business corridor at its eastern edge. The area developed primarily in the 1980s and 90s around the Feather Sound Country Club, with a mix of single-family homes, townhomes, and mid-rise condos.

Titan Plumbing and Electric serves Feather Sound residents with licensed plumbing and electrical work suited to the community's typical building age and bay-adjacent location.

Plumbing Concerns Common in Feather Sound

Homes built during the late 80s and 90s in Feather Sound fall squarely in the polybutylene era, and repipes are a routine project here. Original water heaters from that build cycle are long past replacement age, and condo buildings deal with shared stack issues, in-unit shutoffs, and irrigation backflow on common areas.

Slab-on-grade construction means slab leaks and main line breaks are a regular call, especially in homes that are now 30-plus years old.

Electrical Work We Do in Feather Sound

Bay-adjacent and Gateway-area properties contend with both lightning exposure and salt-influenced air, which shortens the life of meter cans, panels, and outdoor receptacles. Original panels from the community's build era are common upgrade candidates, and surge protection is one of the most cost-effective improvements a Feather Sound homeowner can make.

We also handle EV charger installs, generator integration, and lighting work for both single-family homes and condo unit interiors.

  • Panel replacement and service upgrades
  • Whole-home surge protection
  • EV charger installation
  • Generator inlets and transfer switches
  • GFCI and weather-resistant outdoor outlets
  • Recessed lighting and ceiling fan installs

We recently had our two water heaters replaced. Ariel did a great job making sure that they were installed and working. We have an older house and Ariel had to solve some connection issues to get everything installed and operational. Titan was professional and skilled and the hot water and water pressure are great now.

After this year's hurricanes, Titan is the only business I can rely on to show up when they say they will be there. Months after the storms blew through, we struggle to work with any company because the supply chain is so limited. I wish all companies were as honest as Titan. Their field technicians are not only highly skilled but very kind. Thank you Titan for your enduring commitment to integrity and great service!

I was running late getting home and the plumber waited for an hour on me. I appreciate him and his partner's patience. They fixed my issue fast and didn't complain. I haven't had a problem with my plumbing thus far. This is the company I would love to come fix my plumbing issues and I will refer them to friends in a heartbeat.

Very impressed. Was in a bind on a Saturday. Victor came out within 90 minutes of my call and was very knowledgeable about the Flologic leak detection system we had that showed a possible leak. Within 15 minutes he advised the issue was with the valve for that system that got stuck in the off position. He fixed it, tested the system and we were good to go. I'm very thankful for getting in touch with the right company. Victor was very professional, friendly, and if we have any further plumbing or electric issues we will call Titan.

Thank you to Travis, Brian, and Pete at Titan! We had a great experience with their plumbing and electrical work. They showed up on time, were easy to communicate with, and got everything done quickly and professionally. The plumbing issues were fixed without any hassle, and the electrical work was completed neatly and works perfectly. They explained everything along the way, cleaned up after themselves, and were respectful of our home. Highly recommend them for any plumbing or electrical needs.

Travis, employed by Titan Plumbing, is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. The son of the owner, he treats people with 110% satisfaction. Great guy. I tell all my neighbors and friends about the job he did.

FAQ

Feather Sound Plumbing & Electrical FAQs

What Feather Sound homeowners ask us most often.

How old is Feather Sound housing?
It has an unusually narrow age band. Of roughly 2,016 housing units, the census records none built before 1970, and 1,171 of them, about 58 percent, went up during the 1980s alone. There is no pre war stock here, no 1950s stock and no 1960s stock. That removes several whole categories of problem, and it concentrates everything else into a single decade of materials and code.
Feather Sound is not a city. Who issues my permit?
Pinellas County. Feather Sound is unincorporated, so building, plumbing and electrical permits go through Pinellas County Building and Development Review Services rather than Clearwater or St. Petersburg, both of which run their own building departments. If a contractor tells you they are filing with the city, that is a sign they have not checked which jurisdiction the property actually falls in.
Who bills my Feather Sound water and sewer?
Pinellas County Utilities, which serves the unincorporated areas of the county along with several municipalities. The county also applies a backflow prevention assembly charge on the bill, billed bimonthly and scaled by assembly type and size. Because the schedule and the rules follow the utility rather than the address, confirm the name on your bill before assuming a neighbouring city's requirements apply to you.
My 1980s Feather Sound bathroom has no ground fault protection. Is that normal?
For the era, yes, and it is one of the most common findings here. Ground fault requirements expanded steadily through the 1970s and 1980s, so a unit built early in that decade may have partial coverage or none in bathrooms, kitchens, garages and exterior locations. GFCI outlets and switches are a low cost retrofit and one of the few upgrades that measurably reduces risk rather than just improving convenience.
Is my electricity here from Duke or Tampa Electric?
Duke Energy is the electric provider across this part of Pinellas County. Tampa Electric's territory covers Hillsborough County and parts of neighbouring counties, but Pinellas customers here are on Duke. It matters when work needs the service pulled and reconnected, because the coordination process, the paperwork and the lead time for that appointment differ between the two utilities.
Is Feather Sound part of Clearwater or St. Petersburg?
Neither. It sits unincorporated between the two, which is why mail may carry a Clearwater or St. Petersburg address while the county handles the services. Clearwater runs its own water, sewer and gas utilities and its own building department. St. Petersburg does the same. Feather Sound uses none of them. The mailing city is the least useful piece of information for working out your actual rules.
What fails first in an 1980s Feather Sound townhome?
Supply pipe and panel age, in that order. The entire community was built inside the window when polybutylene supply was in residential use, so it is worth identifying what feeds your water heater. Behind that, forty year old service equipment with original breakers, no arc fault protection and no spare capacity for modern loads. Neither is an emergency. Both benefit from being planned rather than discovered.
