Odessa Plumbing & Electrical Services

A+ BBB · Licensed since 1994

Odessa is the unincorporated community straddling northwest Hillsborough County and southwest Pasco County, covering ZIP codes 33556 and 34669, with a footprint defined by acreage homesites, equestrian properties, and a chain of lakes. Lake Keystone, Lake Calm, Lake Saxon, Lake Como. That anchor the community character. Unlike the densely subdivided master-planned communities to the east in Wesley Chapel and Land O Lakes, Odessa is largely 1- to 5-acre homesites, with longer service runs from the road, well water and septic systems on most properties, and a heavy concentration of horse properties along Tarpon Springs Road, Gunn Highway, and the rural roads west of the Suncoast Parkway.

Titan Plumbing and Electric has been working Odessa since 1994. We know which sub-areas are on county utilities versus private well, which acreage properties have long underground service feeders that have started to fail, and which equestrian properties have barn sub-panels and stock-tank heater circuits that need attention. License numbers CFC1430231 (plumbing) and EC13012958 (electrical), both verifiable at myfloridalicense.com.

Call (813) 933-8010 for same-day service in Odessa, or schedule online. Below is a deep look at what makes Odessa plumbing and electrical work fundamentally different from a tract suburb. And what 1- to 5-acre homesites need from their plumber and electrician.

What Makes Odessa Plumbing and Electrical Work Different

Odessa is acreage country. Most properties sit on 1-5 acre lots with the home set back 100-500 feet from the road. That distance has real implications: water service runs are long (and may be 1-1/4 inch poly, 1-inch copper, or 1-inch PEX depending on era), gas service (where TECO Peoples Gas reaches) requires medium-pressure regulation at the home, and electrical service feeders are often direct-buried URD cable that has been in the ground for 30-50 years and is now showing insulation breakdown failures.

Most Odessa homes are on private well water and septic. Lake Keystone, Lake Calm, Lake Como, and the surrounding acreage neighborhoods are virtually all well-and-septic. We service well pumps, pressure tanks, sediment filters, iron and sulfur removal systems, and water softeners on these properties. And we coordinate with septic contractors when work crosses both systems.

Equestrian properties bring their own electrical and plumbing demands. Barn sub-panels, stock-tank heaters, fly-spray system pumps, wash-rack hot water, electric fence chargers, riding-arena lighting, and stable ventilation all run dedicated circuits. And they need GFCI and equipment-grounding protection appropriate to wet, livestock-occupied environments. We are licensed for this work and have done plenty of it.

Odessa addresses split between Hillsborough County (33556 mostly) and Pasco County (34669 mostly). Permits and inspections route to the appropriate AHJ for each address. We determine the AHJ before quoting and confirm on every permit pull. Electrical service is provided primarily by Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC) on the Pasco side, with Duke Energy and TECO covering the Hillsborough portions.

Long Service Run Replacement and Repair in Odessa

If your home sits 200+ feet back from the road, your water service line, your gas service line (where applicable), and your electrical service feeder are all unusually long. Older properties. 1970s-1990s acreage. Frequently have galvanized or polyethylene water lines that have failed at coupling joints, copper lines that have pinholed in the soil at 30-50 year mark, and direct-buried URD electrical service that has insulation breakdown failures from soil acidity or root damage.

We replace long water service runs in 1-inch HDPE (200 psi) or 1-1/4 inch where flow demand requires, with proper bedding, marker tape, and freeze depth burial. For electrical service feeder failures, we replace direct-buried URD with appropriate aluminum or copper conductors in conduit, with a meter base and main disconnect at the home end. Pasco or Hillsborough County permits required.

Well Pump and Pressure Tank Service in Odessa

Most Odessa homes are on private wells. The system has four core components: submersible pump (typically 1/2 to 2 HP at 4-inch or 6-inch diameter, set 100-400 feet down depending on the well log), a galvanized or composite pressure tank (typically 40-119 gallon for acreage homes), a pressure switch (commonly Square D Pumptrol set 30/50 or 40/60), and water treatment downstream.

We service and replace all of it. Common Odessa well-water failures: pressure tank waterlogging, pressure switch contact failure, submersible pump bearing failure after 15-20 years, and well screen fouling on shallow wells. We pull the pump on a fresh poly drop pipe with stainless adapter, replace, and re-set with appropriate torque arrestor and check valve.

Iron, Sulfur, and Hardness Treatment in Odessa Well Water

Odessa well water is aggressive. Iron content commonly 1-7 ppm, hydrogen sulfide present in many wells (rotten-egg smell), hardness at 10-25 grains per gallon. Untreated, this water stains fixtures orange, ruins white laundry, fouls water heater anode rods within months, and corrodes copper supply runs.

We design and install treatment trains for Odessa well water: sediment pre-filter (5 micron or 1 micron), oxidizing iron filter (Pro-OX, Birm, or chlorine-injection-style), contact tank where chlorine injection is needed for sulfur, softener (Fleck or Clack) downstream, and reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink for drinking water. On equestrian properties we additionally size treatment for stable wash-rack and stock-tank fill demand.

Septic-Friendly Plumbing in Odessa

Most Odessa homes are on septic. We avoid garbage disposals on septic-served homes (or recommend the smallest available unit), size water heater drain pans correctly, recommend low-flow fixtures and high-efficiency washing machines, and coordinate with licensed septic contractors when work crosses both systems. Permits for septic work route through Pasco County Health Department or Hillsborough County Environmental Health Department depending on the address.

Equestrian Property Wiring in Odessa

Odessa is horse country. We wire barns, stables, riding arenas, wash racks, hay barns, and electric fence systems. Barn sub-panels require careful sizing to cover stall fans, lighting, automatic waterer heaters, fly-spray pumps, wash-rack hot water, riding arena lighting, and stable ventilation. Typically a 100-amp or 200-amp sub-panel fed from the main service.

NEC 547 covers agricultural buildings and includes specific bonding, grounding, and GFCI requirements for livestock-occupied structures. We install stainless or PVC-coated conduit appropriate to manure and urine exposure, drip-loop entries to keep moisture out of devices, and equipotential bonding where required by NEC 547.10 to prevent stray voltage that spooks horses.

Stock-tank heaters, electric fence chargers, and wash-rack water heater circuits all need code-appropriate GFCI protection. We install pump-rated GFCI breakers and sealed wet-location devices.

Water Heater Replacement in Odessa

Odessa water heaters are typically electric (most acreage properties don't have natural gas) or propane. We install Rheem, Bradford White, A.O. Smith, Rinnai, Navien, and Noritz in tank, tankless, and hybrid heat-pump configurations. On well-water systems, anode rod life is dramatically shortened by mineral content. We recommend powered anode rods on tank water heaters.

Hybrid heat-pump water heaters work especially well in Odessa garages and pump houses where ambient air is warm year-round. Every install includes a new T&P valve, expansion tank (where a closed system exists), drip pan with drain to an approved termination, and full permit/inspection.

Panel Replacement and Service Upgrades in Odessa

Most original Odessa electrical panels are Cutler-Hammer BR or Eaton CH, Square D QO/Homeline, or Siemens. Older Lake Keystone-area homes from the 1970s-1980s may have Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or Zinsco panels. Both documented fire risks. Send us a photo and we will identify it.

Our standard Odessa upgrade is a 200-amp or 320-amp (400A meter, 200/200 panel pair) Square D QO or Eaton CH main breaker panel with a Type 2 whole-home surge protector and AFCI/GFCI combination breakers where current NEC requires. Many Odessa acreage homes with barn sub-panels, well pumps, pool equipment, generator transfer switches, and EV chargers benefit from a 320/400A service. We pull the appropriate county permit and coordinate the WREC, Duke, or TECO disconnect/reconnect.

Whole-Home Generator Installation in Odessa

Odessa loses power frequently. Long rural service feeders, mature tree canopy, and the open exposure of acreage lots all contribute. Whole-home Generac, Kohler, and Briggs & Stratton standby generators run on natural gas (where TECO Peoples Gas reaches) or. Much more commonly in Odessa. Propane with a 250-1000 gallon tank.

Sizing on Odessa properties is bigger than typical because of the loads: well pump dedicated circuit, irrigation pump, pool equipment, barn sub-panel, and HVAC. A 22kW unit covers a basic 2,400 sq ft Odessa home with well and pool. Larger 4,000+ sq ft Lake Keystone estates with three AC compressors, well, irrigation pump, barn sub-panel, and pool typically need 26-36kW liquid-cooled units. We do the load calc on-site.

EV Charger Installation in Odessa

We install Tesla Wall Connectors, ChargePoint Home Flex, Wallbox, JuiceBox, and hardwired NEMA 14-50 receptacles. Most Odessa homes run 30-48 amps on a dedicated 240V circuit. The long service feeder distance from road to home factors into the load calc. We sometimes recommend a service upgrade to 320/400A on Odessa properties adding two EVs and a heat pump pool heater.

Pressure Regulation, Backflow, and Water Treatment

On well-water systems, pressure tank and pressure switch set system pressure (30/50 or 40/60 psi typical). We adjust set points to match fixture demand. On county-utility-served homes, Florida code requires a PRV on any service exceeding 80 psi static. We install Watts and Wilkins PRVs at service entry.

Irrigation systems on well water typically run a separate well or are tied to the household well. We install appropriately sized irrigation pumps and pressure tanks where the irrigation runs off a dedicated well. We are state-certified backflow testers.

Surge Protection in Odessa

Odessa's open acreage exposure makes lightning damage unusually costly. A single strike can take out the well pump, irrigation pump, HVAC condensers, and barn sub-panel circuits in one event. Every Odessa home needs a Type 2 whole-home surge protector at the main panel; we additionally install dedicated SPDs at the well pump panel and barn sub-panel. We install Eaton, Square D, and Siemens panel-mounted SPDs.

Permits and Code in Odessa

Odessa addresses route to either Hillsborough County Building Services (33556 portion) or Pasco County Building Construction Services (34669 portion). Septic crossings require Hillsborough County Environmental Health or Pasco County Health Department permits. We confirm AHJ on every job before quoting.

Code references: FBC §606 (water service), §607 (water heaters), §708 (sanitary drainage); NEC 230 (services), 250 (grounding), 408 (panelboards), 547 (agricultural buildings), 625 (EV equipment); Florida-specific amendments for hurricane wind-load on exterior equipment.

Storm Prep and Hurricane Recovery

Odessa's open exposure and long service runs put it at higher risk for hurricane-related electrical and plumbing failures than denser suburbs. Pre-storm: confirm generator transfer switch operates under load, verify well pump SPD, replace any water heater older than 12 years, clear exterior condensate drains, secure barn equipment.

Post-storm: safe re-energization, well pump and pressure switch inspection, water heater inspection on flooded units, full panel and exterior disconnect inspection.

We recently had our two water heaters replaced. Ariel did a great job making sure that they were installed and working. We have an older house and Ariel had to solve some connection issues to get everything installed and operational. Titan was professional and skilled and the hot water and water pressure are great now.

After this year's hurricanes, Titan is the only business I can rely on to show up when they say they will be there. Months after the storms blew through, we struggle to work with any company because the supply chain is so limited. I wish all companies were as honest as Titan. Their field technicians are not only highly skilled but very kind. Thank you Titan for your enduring commitment to integrity and great service!

Very impressed. Was in a bind on a Saturday. Victor came out within 90 minutes of my call and was very knowledgeable about the Flologic leak detection system we had that showed a possible leak. Within 15 minutes he advised the issue was with the valve for that system that got stuck in the off position. He fixed it, tested the system and we were good to go. I'm very thankful for getting in touch with the right company. Victor was very professional, friendly, and if we have any further plumbing or electric issues we will call Titan.
